Navigating Anxiety with Presence and Care

Anxiety is part of being human. Sometimes it arrives as a quiet hum in the background, and other times it feels like it’s taking up all the space in the room. It’s not proof that something is “wrong” with you—it’s a signal from your body and mind that they’re carrying a lot.

Here are some ways to meet anxiety with presence and kindness.

1. Name What’s Here

Noticing and naming what’s happening—“I’m feeling anxious right now”—creates a little space between you and the feeling. That space can help you breathe and remember that you are more than this moment.

2. Come Back to Your Body

Anxiety pulls us into our heads. Coming back into the body can help you feel more steady:

  • Plant both feet on the floor and notice their weight.

  • Rest your hands on your lap and feel the warmth or coolness.

  • Try a slow breath: inhale to a count of 4, exhale to a count of 6.

Even small grounding practices can remind you that you are safe in this moment.

3. Question the Urgency

Anxiety often tells us something bad is about to happen. Ask yourself gently: Is this true right now? You don’t have to solve the feeling—just notice if the story in your mind matches the reality in front of you.

4. Choose One Small, Kind Action

When anxiety feels big, meet it with one caring step: step outside for fresh air, write down what’s on your mind, or reach out to a trusted friend. These little actions can shift your energy.

5. Speak to Yourself Like Someone You Love

Instead of pushing yourself to “get over it,” try words like: “This may be challenging, and I’m here with myself in it.” Gentle truth-telling builds trust within.

You don’t have to navigate this alone.

Coaching can help you create space around anxiety, understand what it’s asking for, and respond with intention instead of being swept away.

Together, we can explore ways to:

  • Feel more grounded when anxiety rises.

  • See your patterns with clarity and compassion.

  • Build daily practices that support steadiness and self-trust.

If you’re ready to work with anxiety in a more compassionate way, I’d love to walk alongside you.
