Humanity, Not Strategy

I woke up at 3 a.m. a few days ago with this phrase echoing through my head:

Humanity, not strategy.

What the heck does that mean?

At first, I chalked it up to a dream fragment—maybe something leftover from a conversation or podcast. But the words kept circling in my thoughts, nudging me to pay attention. As someone who listens when something persistent shows up, I got curious.

And I realized: these three words are quietly shaping how I move forward.

When Strategy Isn’t the Answer

Not long ago, I was RIF’d (that’s the corporate way of saying laid off). It was abrupt, disorienting, and—after the shock wore off—liberating in a way I wasn’t expecting. I’d already been coaching and offering energy work on the side for a while, but this moment cracked something open.

I found myself asking:
What if I didn’t go back? What if I let this be the beginning of something instead of scrambling for the next “safe” thing?

Of course, that question is romantic in the middle of the night, and harder in daylight. The truth is: building a sustainable practice takes time. No matter the field. And even more so when you’re committed to doing it with integrity.

The Gross Part of Marketing

I’ve been in spaces—online and off—where the way to grow a business is to “identify your ideal client’s pain points” and then push on them. Hard. It’s all about urgency, scarcity, fear. Frankly? It’s gross. And I won’t do it.

I don’t believe you should have to be convinced you're broken in order to reach for healing.

So here I am, walking that slower path—where I choose humanity over strategy.

That doesn’t mean I don’t have goals or plans. I do. But the way I show up in this work has to match what I believe:

  • That we’re already whole, even if we feel fractured.

  • That healing is relational, not transactional.

  • That the way we market our work matters just as much as the work itself.

What I Offer (and How You’ll Know If It’s for You)

One of my current challenges is figuring out how to talk about what I do in a way that is helpful, supportive, and instructional—without trying to convince anyone of anything.

I want my website, my blog, and my social posts to give you a clear sense of who I am and how I work. My job isn’t to prove I’m the “right” coach or energy worker for you. My job is to tell the truth about what I offer, how I hold space, and how healing can feel. If something in that resonates, we’ll find each other.

If you’re reading this and thinking, “Yeah, this is my pace,” I’d love to connect.
And if not? That’s okay too. Truly.

Because I’m not here to sell—I’m here to serve.
And to keep choosing humanity, not strategy every step of the way.
